Museum Hosting Asia-Pacific American Heritage Month Roundtable

HOLLAND, Michigan — The Holland Museum will host a panel in honor of May, Asia-Pacific American Heritage Month. The panel will take place on Thursday, May 19.

The panel will discuss how they proudly share their Asian and Pacific Islander culture with other members of the West Michigan community. He will also talk about what is being done to elevate their presence.

Jennifer Pascua

The panel will be moderated by Jennifer Pascua. Pascua is a community relations manager at Spectrum Health, with a focus on relationship management in the community partnership team. She is also the Founder/Owner of Halo Halo Multimedia, LLC, an independent micro media service that works to elevate BIPOC and women entrepreneurs, disability organizations and nonprofits. She is also an Adjunct Professor in the Communication Department at Hope College. From 2005 to 2018, Pascua was a reporter and presenter for WZZM 13.

The panel will also include Bing Goei, CEO of Eastern Floral and the Goei Center. Goei also served as president of the American Asia-Pacific Chamber of Commerce, president of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce, and director of the Office of New Americans in former Governor Rick Snyder’s administration. Another panel member will be Ace Marasigan, who created the annual Grand Rapids Asian Festival in 2017. Stella Michael will also be a panel member. Michael is Director of CRM Platforms and Applications at Spectrum Health. She is also a co-founder of Asian American Community Engagement (AACE) and the Asian Inclusion Resources Group at Spectrum Health. Michael is also Chairman of the Board of the West Michigan Asian American Association. Pujita Sieplinga will also be part of the panel. Pujita is an assistant vice president and consultant for PNC Organizational Financial Wellness. She is also Senior Vice President of the Board of Directors of PNC’s Western Michigan Multicultural Group.

“We are delighted to be able to provide a forum for this important conversation about the people of Asia and the Pacific,” said Ricki Levine, Executive Director of the Holland Museum. “As a cultural institution, the Holland Museum has a responsibility to provide opportunities to learn from each other, celebrate our differences and explore our collective humanity.”

“We value the diverse communities we serve and are pleased to be part of the Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month Roundtable, which elevates the history, perspectives and experiences of members of our AAPI community,” said Bill. Hoefer, president of Spectrum Health Zeeland. Community Hospital. “We commend the Holland Museum for focusing on voices that historically have not been heard enough. As a healthcare organization, we know that health is better when we feel a sense of membership.

The roundtable will take place on Thursday, May 19 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Registration is required to attend the roundtable, which can be done on Eventbrite.
